Late last week, Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced a resolution prohibiting transgender individuals at the Capitol from using single-sex facilities opposite of their assigned gender at birth, which was met with death threats. Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has introduced a resolution condemning the threats, calling them "awful and completely unacceptable."

Rep. Mace's resolution was introduced after the election of Representative-elect Sarah McBride (D-DE), the first transgender member of Congress. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said, "All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings—such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms—are reserved for individuals of that biological sex."

While Rep.-elect McBride has signaled she will comply with the measure because she is "not here to fight about bathrooms," the South Carolina Congresswoman claimed she received death threats after introducing the resolution, according to the New York Post.

Rep. Mace shared an unhinged voicemail with the Post in which the caller derided a male staffer with a homophobic slur and told them to commit suicide, saying, "Literally, I hope you f–-king hear this and kill yourself. I genuinely will pray to God that you kill yourself. F–k you."

The Daily Mail reported an Instagram user known as "Venuspeenis" graphically threatening to murder Mace, saying, "I hope that one day I do find you in that woman's bathroom and I grab you by your ratty looking f******* hair and drag you face down to the floor while I repeatedly bash it in until the blood's everywhere and you're dead."

Because of these heinous words, Rep. Luna introduced her resolution Tuesday and released a statement further condemning the threats.

"The escalating threats of violence and death against Congresswoman Nancy Mace on social media and to her office are awful and completely unacceptable. This has become standard practice among those on the other side towards those they disagree with. Elected officials must be able to represent the values and policies their constituents sent them here to uphold—free from intimidation or fear for their livelihood. Congress must stand united in unequivocally condemning all threats of violence against our colleagues," said the Florida Congresswoman in her press release.
