A four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard between Kirk Road and S. Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach County is likely to be renamed "President Donald J. Trump Boulevard" after Palm Beach County Commissioners unanimously approved the new signage on Tuesday. The stretch still needs to be approved by the city of West Palm Beach and the town of Palm Beach, which part of the road runs through, to become official.

President Donald Trump, who makes his home nearby at Mar-a-Lago, thanked Palm Beach County and Gov. Ron DeSantis for the honor. Trump became a permanent resident of Florida in 2019 after residing in New York City.

"It has been brought to my attention that the Great State of Florida, which I won BIG three times, and where I am a proud Resident, has renamed an important four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard, in Palm Beach County, to “PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP BOULEVARD," Trump said on Truth Social. "Thank you to Palm Beach County, Governor Ron DeSantis, and all of Florida’s great State Lawmakers, on granting me this wonderful honor! I LOVE FLORIDA!"

The distinction was made possible by HB 987, brought by Reps. Charles "Chuck" Brannan (R-Macclenny) and Danny Nix (R-Placida). The bill passed unanimously in the Florida Legislature and was signed by DeSantis in June.

Rep. Meg Weinberger (R-Palm Beach Gardens), who co-sponsored the bill, thanked the commission for their approval on social media. Rep. Weinberger, sometimes referred to as "MAGA Meg," is a strong supporter of Trump and his administration.

"Palm Beach County commissioners have unanimously voted to rename a section of Southern Boulevard to 'President Donald J. Trump Boulevard,' Weinberger said. "I am honored to see my legislation honoring the greatest president of our lifetime become reality. A heartfelt thank you to every commissioner who voted in favor of this resolution!"
