After announcing a bombshell press conference that would take place in Georgia next week, President Donald Trump (R) has cancelled the conference. The announcement came after President Trump was indicted on charges stemming from the 2020 election.

Taking to social media to make the announcement, Trump shared that “rather than releasing the Report on the Rigged & Stolen Georgia 2020 Presidential Election on Monday, my lawyers would prefer putting this, I believe, Irrefutable & Overwhelming evidence of Election Fraud & Irregularities in formal Legal Filings as we fight to dismiss this disgraceful indictment.”

Initially, Trump was set to host a press conference on Monday to allegedly present “irrefutable” evidence that he did not in fact lose the 2020 election. This, he argued, would exonerate him from the charges he is facing.

When he made the announcement on social media, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R) responded to the post, pushing back against the president’s claim.

Assuring that “the 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen,” Kemp added that “for nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward – under oath – and prove anything in a court of law.”

It’s reported that advisors have urged Trump to stop commenting on the 2020 election as he seeks the 20204 Republican nomination.

Vice President Mike Pence (R), a supporter turned critic of Trump, also weighed in on the debate, affirming that “the Georgia election was not stolen, and I had no right to overturn the election on January 6th.”

As the charges continue to mount, Trump continues to surge in the polls, and he maintains that he is committed to continuing to run for office.

While Trump has gained a number of critics from the Republican party, supporters have also weighed in on the matter. Criticism has been aimed at President Joe Biden (D), accusing him of weaponizing the Justice Department.
