As House Republicans' investigations into President Biden and his son Hunter dig deeper, a Federal judge rejected the "sweetheart" plea deal proposed to the President's son for tax and gun charges. Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business's Evening Edit to discuss the rejection's impact on Biden's reelection and how Democrats are faltering to defend him.
Host David Asman began the discussion by asking if the plea deal's rejection would derail the Biden reelection campaign. Rep. Cammack answered yes, noting the irony in President Biden's claims of bringing transparency back to the White House.
"This is an administration that has, quote, "prided itself" on getting to the bottom, to truth, to being an open book, and transparency, and all about accountability. Yet what we are seeing play out in front of our eyes when the judge today asked if there were any additional investigations ongoing into Hunter Biden and they said "yes," not only did he get a sweetheart plea deal that none of us everyday American would have received, but there is another investigation going on," said Rep. Cammack, adding, "At the end of the day, Americans want the truth, and the White House deserves to give it to them."
Asman then played footage of Fox's Hillary Vaughn interviewing Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), who said Republicans are trying to impeach Biden "no matter whether there is any evidence," which is even more ironic given Rep. Schiff's continual pressing of the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.
Cammack agreed, saying Asman "took the words right out of [her] mouth" and that she could not hear Rep. Schiff say Republicans are trying to impeach Biden without evidence "without laughing." Ultimately, however, this serves to reflect how "in this White House, it is 'rules for thee, but not for me.'"
"You took the words right out of my mouth. I was actually having a hard time listening to that without laughing because coming from him, from Adam Schiff, saying that to do an impeachment without evidence is wrong. Give me a break. Let us not forget the sham impeachment of President Trump that the Democrats were so focused on over a phone call. But as we know, in this White House, it is "rules for thee, not for me," and that is why Hunter is getting these sweetheart deals and the White House is doing everything they can to make sure that Hunter has no consequence," Cammack concluded.
