Waltz Speculates on Red Wave's Stalling in Senate

The Republican hopes for a "Red Wave" did not turn out as expected. While there were some major wins in the House of Representatives and in gubernatorial races, hopes for the Senate have largely fallen short. Receiving endorsements from former President Donald Trump proved a boon to some and a hindrance to others.

Appearing on the Fox News Channel, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL-6) suggests this is a cause worthy of examination, but a House majority is ultimately a victory worth taking.

"What we need to do is unpack the data to answer the question of why Republican governors are doing so well while Senate candidates aren't," Waltz tweets, "but at the end of the day, Pelosi will be handing over the Speaker's gavel to Kevin McCarthy and we will hold the Biden Admin accountable."

In the clip, Waltz says that "if we look at the number of overall candidates that won, he [Trump] endorsed candidates across the board. Many of them were very successful. But I think both can be true, that candidates do matter, their individual messages matter, and I think what we have to look at is why are our governors doing so well? Why are they so outperforming, in statewide tickets, some of these Senate candidates? And, you know, Donald Trump endorsed both governors and Senate candidates, and members of the House, many of whom did quite well. So I think that we really have to unpack the data. We still have a long way to go, we had some phenomenal candidates in the House that didn't do as well, and some that are just crushing it."

Nonetheless, Waltz concludes that "I do think you're going to see our majority in the House tick up. And at the end of the day, we are going to see Nancy Pelosi hand off that gavel, we will take the majority back, we will stop Biden's agenda, and we will investigate for accountability on so many issues."
