Florida Congressman Charlie Crist is said to be considering a run against Governor Ron DeSantis in the 2022 gubernatorial election.

According to several lobbyists that say they have entertained a phone call from Crist regarding a possible run, and one influential member of the U.S. Congress, who corroborates their claims, Crist is willing to leave his cushy job in Washington for his former job in Tallahassee.

The Florida Democratic Party, which is still reeling over their statewide defeats to Republicans in 2020, has had a shortlist of possible challengers to DeSantis, so if Crist is serious about the run, Democrats could jump behind his third run for governor.

Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried has been considered the best potential Democratic candidate to face DeSantis, may have just seen her chances of becoming her political party’s gubernatorial nominee go up in smoke.

Crist does not lose primary races. Well, he did once leave the Republican Party in order to keep from losing his GOP Senate primary race against now-Senator Marco Rubio.
