Republican Alysha “Aly” Legge announced her candidacy for Florida's 14th Congressional District through a press and video statement released this week.

"For more than a decade, I've been fighting for parents, veterans, families, and the America First principles that put our nation, our communities, and our children first," Legee said. " I haven't just talked about these issues - I've been in the fight, standing up for Florida families in school board meetings, county commission chambers, the state Capitol, and the halls of Congress. "Now, I'm ready to take that fight directly to Washington and represent the people of Florida's 14th Congressional District."

Legge is a conservative activist and Army veteran. Her political activism includes many aspects of President Donald Trump's "America First" movement, including election integrity, parental rights, constitutional freedoms, government accountability, and pro-growth policies for American workers.

CD 14 includes portions of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties on Florida's west coast.

"Washington has enough politicians. It needs more fighters," Legee continued. "I'm not a millionaire, a lobbyist, or a career politician. I'm a mother who got involved because I wanted to protect my children and preserve the freedoms that make this country great. No one fights harder than a mother protecting her family, and I'll bring that same determination to Congress every single day."

Former Florida House Rep. Mike Beltran, Rep. Kevin Steele (R-Dade City), Robert "Rocky" Rochford and several others are also running in the Republican primary. Incumbent Kathy Castor and Juan Arauz are on the Democratic ticket.

Rep. Castor has served the district, formerly CD 11, since 2007.

"As your next Congresswoman, I'll work every day to secure our border, restore fiscal sanity, defend our constitutional rights, support our veterans, and ensure that families - not bureaucrats - have the final say in raising their children," Legge said. "The stakes are too high for business as usual. It's time for a new generation of conservative leadership."
