Republican Party of Florida Chairman and candidate in the Republican congressional race to replace retiring Rep. Neal Dunn (R) in Florida's 2nd District, Evan Power, called Iran “promoters of terror” during an interview with The Floridian, where he discusses his views on the Islamic Republic, the Abraham Accords, and Islamic religious Sharia law.

“The Iranians have been promoters of terror for 47 years. They’ve killed numerous Americans over that period of time. And you cannot have peace and safety in this world without dealing with the biggest projectors of terror,” Chairman Power told The Floridian.

Power Shares Support For the Expansion of the Abraham Accords

During the interview, Chairman Power expressed his support for the Abraham Accords – a set of joint diplomatic, economic, and security normalization agreements between Israel and several Middle Eastern countries mediated by the U.S. during President Donald Trump’s first term.

“I think they should be expanded. I think it’s been a great success. I think even in this conflict, you’re seeing partners come to the table that previously haven’t worked with us to bring peace to that area,” Chairman Power affirmed. “If you can get them [Iran] to stop promoting terror, you’re going to bring more partners for peace in that area, which will lead to peace and prosperity for the whole region [the Middle East].”

Chairman Power Affirms Commitment to Sharia-Free America Caucus

Chairman Power also confirmed his commitment to join the Sharia-Free America Caucus within the U.S. House of Representatives. The Caucus, established in late 2025 and led by Reps. Keith Self (R-TX) and Chip Roy (R-TX), aims to oppose the influence of Sharia law within the U.S.

“I will join day one. You’re seeing a lot of great people join. I think what you have to understand is that our country is founded on certain values and principles,” he said. “We cannot let a religion pass their doctrine onto the American people as law. So, I would join that caucus on day one.”

Chairman Power Blames Reps. Tlaib and Omar on Democrat Party's Unpopularity

Chairman Power additionally addressed the alleged promotion of Sharia Law by Reps Rashida Tlaib (Mich.-D) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.-D).

“I think they should be censored for some of the things that they’ve said. They’re promoting anti-American rhetoric. And it shows just how far the Democrats have gone to the crazy land and how radical they’ve become,” Chairman Power argued. “That’s why the Democratic Party has the lowest popularity that it’s ever had in this country. And we should elevate what they’re saying because some of the things that they’re saying are so far out of the mainstream of America’s society that people would be shocked to hear some of the things that they said.”

Florida's primary election will be held on August 18, 2026.

Power will face off against Republican businessman Keith Gross, former Senatorial Counsel Austin Rogers, Luke Murphy, Nick Lewis, Audie Powell, and Jim Norton.
