Florida gubernatorial candidate and Lt. Gov. Jay Collins slammed businessman James Fishback for what he calls a continued use of "disgraceful" antisemitism in his own campaign bid in a social media post this week.
"Leftist media clearly wants Fishback to be the candidate as they know he will get crushed by any Democrat," Collins wrote. "His disgraceful antisemitism is now on full display as is his ignorance in calling the Western Wall, which is not only a sacred Jewish site, but also a revered site by Christians, a "stupid wall.”
Fishback, a businessman by trade, referred to the Western Wall, or Kotel, in Jerusalem as a "stupid wall" during a campaign speech at the University of Florida earlier this month.
"I would rather travel to Brazil and other countries to bring jobs to Florida, and not visit countries just to kiss a stupid wall," Fishback said to an audience.
At a campaign stop in University of Central Florida, Fishback reportedly used the term "goyslop" when talking about junk food in school cafeterias.
"Goyslop" is a portmanteau of "goy" (a Yiddish word for a non-Jew) and "slop" for low-quality food or trash. The term has been used in far-right and white nationalist spaces to imply food manufactured by Jews to weaken or control non-Jewish people.
"Fishback’s positions are indistinguishable from radical terrorists," Collins added.
Collins condemned him while calling on U.S. Rep. and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds to do the same.
"All Floridians deserve to feel safe and respected in the Free State of Florida," Collins said.
Fishback's circle has included time with controversial figures, including Clavicular and Sneako, two controversial streamers who appeared at a Miami Beach nightclub partying to Kanye West's “Heil Hitler" in January.
Nick Fuentes, a self-described white nationalist, was also there. Fishback praised Fuentes and his followers a few months ago in an interview on social media.
"I've found the audience of young men who follow and watch Nick Fuentes to be actually incredibly informed and insightful and very patriotic," Fishback said.
