Climate activist Greta Thunberg was recently detained in the eastern Mediterranean by Israel’s government during a voyage she and other activists were taking towards Gaza with the hopes of protesting the ongoing war.

The vessel Thunberg was on belongs to an anti-Israeli group called the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), which has criticized Israel’s blockade of external aid to Gaza.

In recent months, Israel has personally overseen aid disbursement in Gaza following reports Hamas was hijacking aid efforts to support their terrorist operations.

Thunberg’s vessel was reportedly carrying less than one truckload of aid into Gaza, prompting the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (IMFA) to ridicule the effort.

“While Greta and others attempted to stage a media provocation,” reads an IMFA statement, “whose sole purpose was to gain publicity — and which included less than a single truckload of aid — more than 1,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza from Israel within the past two weeks, and in addition, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has distributed close to 11 million meals directly to civilians in Gaza.”

Following the vessel’s detainment, Thunberg released a video alleging she had been “kidnapped by the Israeli occupational forces.”

Israel criticized Thunberg and the FFC as looking to stage a media spectacle rather than help Gaza’s civilians.

“There are ways to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip — they do not involve provocations and selfies,” said the IMFA, who classified the FCC vessel as a “selfie yacht.”

IMFA notified that “the “selfie yacht” of the “celebrities” is safely making its way to the shores of Israel. The passengers are expected to return to their home countries.”

Israel’s operations against Hamas have recently expanded, as the former seeks to eliminate the former’s terror threats once and for all.

Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) recently unveiled additional proof that Hamas continues to jeopardize Gaza civilians’ lives by operating from within essential civilian infrastructure, such as hospitals.

Among the evidence unveiled is deceased Hamas leader Mohammad Sinwar’s body, which was reportedly found directly beneath the European hospital in Khan Yunis.

According to the IDF, these findings are “more proof of how Sinwar, and Hamas, hide behind their civilians and purposely embed themselves in civilian areas, such as hospitals.”

“He died the way he lived—underground,” concluded the IDF.
