In a recent Quinnipiac poll regarding Florida hispanic voters, former Vice President Joe Biden (D) is lagging behind President Donald Trump (R). Moreover, Biden is also underperforming compared to exit polls that for Hillary Clinton (D) that showed her outperforming President Trump.
Ultimately, Clinton ended up losing the state in the general election, and the poll could be indicative that Biden could also lose the battleground state in the November election.
Giancarlo Sopo, the Trump campaign’s director of response for Spanish-language media, commented on the results, arguing that “it’s telling that Joe Biden’s latest Spanish-language ads are break-up songs encouraging our supporters to abandon President Trump.”
In addition, Sopo commented that “public polling is flawed, but this confirms our colleagues on the other side of the aisle see the same thing we do in the data: the President’s support among Hispanics is growing and he is on track to surpass his 2016 vote totals among our diverse communities.”
In terms of the numbers, Trump leads Biden with Florida Hispanic likely voters by two points (45% to 43%).
The results show that “Trump is running slightly ahead of his statewide Hispanic performance in 2016 by about 2 points thanks to increased backing from conservative Cuban-American voters and additional support from a broader coalition of Latino voters, specifically men, whom the president’s campaign has courted.”
