An Israeli newspaper report alleges that Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu was explicitly warned of a planned Hamas operation more than a week before the Oct. 7, 2023, attack.

According to the Haaretz daily, United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohammed bin Zayed informed Netanyahu that Yahya Sinwar – the former leader of the militant group Hamas in Gaza – was planning a major offensive against Israel.

Netanyahu Reportedly Assured Israel Was Prepared For Any Attack

Bin Zayed warned Netanyahu that Hamas’ operation could potentially lead to bloodshed, destabilize the region, and undermine the Abraham Accords.

Netanyahu, however, “reacted with relative calm” and assured bin Zayed that Israel was prepared for any possible attack from the occupied West Bank.

The Haaretz daily’s findings reportedly stem from an upcoming book by Israeli journalists Shlomi Eldar and Ruti Yaval.

Netanyahu Pushes Back Against The Report

PM Netanyahu’s office responded to the report on social media, strongly denying it.

“The press reports are false. No warning was given to the Prime Minister from the United Arab Emirates before October 7th. If there was any relevant information, it was passed through intelligence channels between the two countries,” the Prime Minister of Israel account shared on X.

UK, France, & Canada's Sanctions Against Israeli Settlements

The Israeli outlet’s report comes amid a wave of public outcry over the United Kingdom (UK), France, and Canada’s recently announced sanctions on Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Floridian lawmakers reacted strongly against the measures, accusing the three nations of sympathizing with terrorist groups.

“Alarming to see UK, France, and Canada enacting anti-Israel policies that will only help terrorists around the world,” Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) wrote on X. “How far are they willing to go to protect evil regimes and threaten a key strategic ally? America stands with Israel, and we WILL NOT forget this.”

Congressman Randy Fine (R-Fla.) also warned the three nations about their actions: “Boycott Israel, and Florida boycotts you.”
