Representative Randy Fine (R-FL) discussed the SAVE America Act in a recent interview with The Floridian, ripping the Senate for not passing it and proposing means of ensuring that the bill's provisions can become law.

Death in the 'Dysfunctional' Senate

In April, Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) told The Floridian that Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) had no intention of passing the SAVE America Act, and reportedly asked Thune if the Senate would advance voter identification as a standalone bill, "but they won't put voter ID on a standalone here," so Republicans will have to try a different means of getting it through.

Later in May, Rep. Luna took an additional shot at Sen. Thune on Jesse Watters Primetime, saying, "I think right now that Thune has been trying to get the American people off his back for not doing anything about voter ID, doing nothing about the SAVE America Act."

Rep. Fine expressed similar frustration and disappointment in our recent interview, saying, "The Senate is basically a dysfunctional body. I think the question is, 'Are there other ways to get to the provisions of the SAVE America Act?'"

As a result, Rep. Fine said he was working with House Freedom Caucus colleagues to "potentially add components of the SAVE America Act to other must-pass legislation, so, for example, the FISA bill."

California Justifies SAVE America Act's Passage

The Florida congressman suggested that California's slow vote-counting process, which President Donald Trump recently said is intentional so Democrats can steal elections, justifies the need for the SAVE America Act.

"The Democratic Party has no desire to have free and fair elections," Fine argued. "They want the kind of Marxist-Leninist structure from where they came. Remember, they have elections in Russia, too, but they are not real elections. And I think Democrats clearly want Communist Party-style elections in this country."

  1. No question in my mind that linking FISA and SAVE America Act is totally sound. If the “swamp” wants FISA, they can give the American people the SAVE Act.
