Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly announced he has been endorsed by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava for Florida governor through a social media post this week.
"Florida deserves a governor who works for all of us. I'm all in for David Jolly," Levine Cava said. "Florida needs a leader who can bring people together, not divide them. David Jolly has put years putting principle over party, and that's exactly the kind of courage we need in the Governor's Office."
Levine Cava has been mayor of Miami-Dade since 2020. She was re-elected in 2024 with 58% of the vote in 2024.
Jolly thanked Cava for her endorsement.
"Grateful for the friendship and endorsement of Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. Mayor Cava is leading with incredible vision, strength, and compassion," Jolly said. "It’s an honor to have her support."
Levine Cava's endorsement of Jolly follows support from Sen. Brian Nathan (D-Tampa) in April. Jolly has also been endorsed by Rep. Emily Gregory (R-Jupiter), Sen. Shevrin "Shev" Jones (D-Miami Gardens), and former Democratic State Senator Janet Cruz.
Jolly, a former Republican-turned Democrat, announced his candidacy for governor in June 2025. Jolly is likely to be the Democratic nominee after Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, his main challenger, suspended his gubernatorial campaign after being was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
As the presumptive nominee, Jolly picked former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham as his running mate this week. Jolly and Graham are expected to be at a rally at Florida International University in Miami on Thursday night.
U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, and businessman James Fishback are in the Republican primary for governor. Multiple polls, including from the University of North Florida and Emerson College, have shown Jolly within single digits of Jolly in the general election.
The general election is Nov. 3.
