Palm Beach County Commissioners approved a licensing and trademark agreement linked with the Trump administration to rename Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J. Trump International Airport during Tuesday's commission meeting.
The vote was 4-3.
More specifically, the agreement allows Palm Beach County to use Trump's name on signage and merchandise. Items include T-shirts, hats, socks, luggage, umbrellas, and fragrances. Although DTTM Operations, LLC, a company that handles the president's trademarks, holds rights to how Trump's name, image, and likeness are used on merchandise.
At the meeting, Eric Weinberger, husband of House Rep. Meg 'MAGA Meg' Weinberger (R-Palm Beach Gardens), read a letter from the general counsel of the Trump organization confirming the licensing agreement with Palm Beach County.
Eric Weinberger also called out Rep. Kelly Skidmore (D-Delray Beach) for supposedly bashing President Trump, which Weinberger countered by calling Trump a 'phenomenal president' and saying Skidmore didn't get her way in stopping the renaming during the 2026 Legislative Session.
Skidmore was a 'No' vote on the bill Rep. Weinberger sponsored to rename Palm Beach International Airport after President Trump in February. The bill passed and was signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in March.
"I'm confirming the license agreement signed by us and the president individually gives Palm Beach County the unfettered right to rename Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J Trump International Airport immediately, and in perpetuity," Weinberger read.
"The agreement is valid and binding and royalty-free. Anyone claiming otherwise is simply wrong. Therefore, I humbly ask for your vote. I believe that the President and others will be more than happy to help with appropriations or whatever else, to help improve the greatest airport in Palm Beach County," Weinberger added.
Rep. Weinberger was also a key voice in renaming a four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard between Kirk Road and South Ocean Boulevard to President Donald J. Trump Boulevard near Trump's home at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach County.
The rename is still subject to approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). If approved by the FAA, the change will officially take effect on July 1, 2026.
