Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) warned of the money going into anti-American agitator groups in recent comments to Fox News Digital, saying that if any of it is from foreign sources, they must register as foreign agents.
"Their purpose is to sow discord here in the United States," Rep. Gimenez argued, adding that these groups are out to "destroy the fabric of America, and it is all part of the great plan in order to change America without having fired a shot." "The question is, the funding of these entities, is it coming from non-U.S. citizens?" he asked.
The Florida Republican conceded that a source is "a U.S. citizen born here in the United States, not living here," possibly referring to Neville Roy Singham, a "Marxist mogul" who was born in Connecticut but lives in China.
Nevertheless, the Florida congressman noted that anti-American activists are "being paid to do what they are doing, and it may not be against the law until we find out that some of the activities are against the law, and then they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law."
He questioned whether Singham is funding these groups with his own money or whether foreign sources are funneling money through him.
"The real question is, where is that money coming from?" Gimenez further queried. "Is it his or is it actually coming from the [Chinese Communist Party] or some other foreign country?"
Gimenez is not the only Florida Republican to be suspicious of Singham; Marco Rubio previously demanded that he be investigated in August 2023 during his time as a Florida Senator.
"The CCP is our greatest adversary, and we cannot allow it to abuse our open system to promote its malign influence any longer," Rubio wrote, accusing the Department of Justice (DOJ) of being "unaware or ambivalent to this growing threat."
