Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) is facing possible expulsion from Congress, but she is refusing to resign ahead of the vote, saying, "This is not the time to abandon the district, not when they too are fighting for their future."

Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick was found guilty of 25 ethics charges in late March related to the ongoing scandal surrounding her alleged theft of over $5 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), along with allegations of failure to adhere to campaign finance laws, comingled campaign, personal, and business funds, and using her position to benefit allies.

The threat of expulsion comes in the wake of Representatives Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Tony Gonzales (R-TX) resigning their seats, as both men are accused of sexual assault.

Still, Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick remains defiant, telling Fox News Digital, "For those asking whether I plan to resign, the answer is no. This is not the time to abandon the district, not when they too are fighting for their future."

Expelling the Florida congresswoman would require votes from Democrats, few of whom have shown willingness to support her expulsion.

"We will proceed in a manner consistent with our approach to these types of ethics matters, which is to always and at all times follow the facts and apply the relevant law without fear of it," said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) on Monday.

Cherfilus-McCormick is not the only member of Florida's congressional delegation facing expulsion threats, as Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) is going after Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) for allegations of sexual misconduct and lying about his military service.

Like Cherfilus-McCormick, Rep. Mills is defiant, writing on social media, "Here's proof Nancy filed for expulsion without proof or due process, and now trying to backpedal after claiming she had 'overwhelming evidence to support my expulsion.' You submitted the resolution, so call it privileged for a vote and stop grandstanding for donations, Nancy!"
