The White House Office of Communications released a new poll showing increased support for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a bipartisan bill that aims to fortify American elections against fraud by ensuring that only American citizens vote.
“This legislation enjoys overwhelming support from the American people — yet Radical Left Democrat politicians continue to obstruct it, choosing partisan power plays over national security and the will of the people,” the White House shared.
The new poll asks participants if they support or oppose the proposed SAVE Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, voter ID, states to remove non-citizens from their voting rolls, and states to share unredacted voting rolls with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The overall results show that 71% of people support the legislation, and 29% oppose the bill.

“71% support the SAVE America Act — including 69% of independents and half of rank-and-file Democrats,” the statement emphasizes.
Among those supporting the bill, 81% favor requiring voter ID, with 79% of independents and 70% of Democrats backing the requirement.
In addition, 80% want states to remove non-citizens from voter rolls, 75% support proof of citizenship to vote, and 61% support sharing unredacted voting rolls with DHS.
The statement adds that “60% call the SAVE America Act a 'commonsense way to stop fraud and protect the security of our elections,’ 58% recognize at least some voter fraud exists in the U.S.,” and “85% agree only U.S. citizens should vote in our elections — including 84% of independents and 82% of Democrats.”
The White House touted the results, claiming that it aligns with other polls conducted by The Pew Research Center, Gallup, Heritage Action, Rasmussen Reports, Napolitan News Service, and The Center Square, which “shatters Democrats’ tired narrative."
The U.S. House of Representatives previously approved the bill, resulting in a very narrow 216-215 vote.
