White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social today.
Wiles, who has been Trump's Chief of Staff since his second inauguration in January 2025, plans to continue her role as she undergoes treatment.
"Susie Wiles is an incredible Chief of Staff, a great person, and one of the strongest people I know but, unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, and has decided to take on this challenge, IMMEDIATELY, as opposed to waiting. She has a fantastic medical team, and her prognosis is excellent!" Trump wrote.
Wiles, 68, successfully ran Trump's campaign operations in Florida in 2016 and 2020. She also worked as Trump's co-campaign manager during his successful 2024 presidential campaign against Vice President Kamala Harris.
"Her Strength and her Commitment to continue doing the job she loves, and does so well, while undergoing treatment, tells you everything you need to know about her. Susie, as one of my closest and most important advisors, is tough and deeply committed to serving the American People. She will soon be better than ever!" Trump wrote on social media. "Melania and I are with her in every way, and we look forward to working with Susie on the many big and wonderful things that are happening for the benefit of our Country."
Wiles has been a staple in Florida politics, having moved to the Sunshine State in the 1980s.
Her service includes maintaining and developing close relationships with many Florida-based media and political figures, including The Floridian Publisher Javier Manjarres, after they both helped U.S. Sen. Rick Scott launch his political career during his gubernatorial campaign in 2010.
"Susie Wiles is an incredible person. She’s been a friend since 2010, when she ran my first Governor’s race. She has always been a true leader and an impressive tactician. She is one of the hardest-working people I know, and continues to be as President Trump’s Chief of Staff," Scott wrote on social media. "Ann and I are praying for a quick and speedy recovery. Susie is a fighter. She will get through this stronger than ever!"
Both Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) shared their support in separate X posts.
Vance wrote that his family “is praying for our dear friend as she takes on her next fight!”
Johnson (R-La.) shared that his family “joins with everyone else in praying for our dear friend Susie to make a quick and complete recovery.”
“I know I speak for the President and the entire White House when I say that we are all praying for Susie and rallying behind her as she prepares to fight this battle against breast cancer,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote in a post on X, praising the chief of staff.
