The controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations-Florida (CAIR-FL), the group that condemned Israel during the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack that left 1,200 Israelis and foreigners dead, is scheduled to hold its 2026 Muslim Day at the Capitol (MDAC) event today in the Florida Capitol even though Governor Ron DeSantis and Attorney General James Uthmeier have labeled them a terrorist organization.
On December 8, 2025, Gov. DeSantis signed an Executive Order designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations."
Gov. DeSantis has directed Florida law enforcement agencies to "undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations, including denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support."
The move to hold the event, which CAIR-FL has been promoting after being called a terrorist organization, may be to provoke an incident with Capitol Police officers and Gov. DeSantis.
Conservative journalist Laura Loomer warned state lawmakers to carry a firearm "in case an Islamic invader visiting the Florida Capitol tries to attack them."
"I encourage all Florida law makers to be carrying today in case an Islamic invader visiting the Florida Capitol tries to attack them. Allowing Muslims to take over the Florida Capitol building is a public safety risk and it’s time for our state to take this threat seriously," stated Loomer.
"Florida is designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations. Florida agencies are hereby directed to undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations, including denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support," stated DeSantis.
Attorney General James Uthmeier could not be reached for comment.
