Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) Chairman Evan Power sat down with The Floridian to discuss his newly announced campaign for Congressional District 2, vowing to make North Florida feel the economic upswing the Trump Administration is cultivating.

"This district needs a fighter who will fight with President Trump to keep the majority and to pass his policies," Power began, adding, "when you look at this district, we need help economically. The president is interested in helping working families. That's why they passed the Big, Beautiful Bill, to get more money into working families' hands here in District Two. We need jobs and workforce training, and all those things are in the President's vision."

We specifically asked about agricultural policy reform, which Power said requires "flexibility to farm the crops that they need and they feel that they need to be able to grow," while also protecting, pointing to the Trump Administration's agreement to import Argentinian beef, which undermines American cattlemen.

Nevertheless, Power vowed to work with the White House if he wins the Republican primary election and subsequent general midterm elections later this year, adding,  "I've been here for the fights with the President, whom I've fought side by side with to win the war."

"[Republicans] won the state of Florida by 13 points, which was a record since 1988 for a Republican candidate," Power continued, adding, "This is not the time for our district to find people who have been absent from those fights."

Moreover, the RPOF Chairman reiterated that he wants the Trump Administration's economic policy to become a reality in North Florida, noting that "it's a place that's been hard hit by hurricanes," pointing specifically to Taylor County.

"We need to develop an economy that works for those families, so that they can have jobs and they can be successful," Power concluded, "And I think that's in line with the President's vision: he wants to make every family have the idea of being able to be free and successful."

He pointed to the recent "Trump accounts" policy, which creates savings accounts for children born between 2025 and 2028. They receive a one-time $1,000 government deposit to open an account, with the money remaining tax-free until they turn 18 and withdraw it for college or business expenses.

"That will give children a new future, and that will help a lot of families across North Florida," Power surmised, "but for a lot of the places in North Florida, we need economic development so people can have jobs, go to work, and that benefits everybody across the board, from better education to lower crime to all the things that go along with that. When you have a job, and you're happy, and you're able to provide for your family, it gives you all the opportunities you need."

It appears as if all the Republican political stars are aligning with Powers and the White House could be getting involved in this raise sooner rather than later.
