TALLAHASSEE The 2026 Republican gubernatorial primary election is in full swing, and while Rep. Byron Donalds holds a staggering $40 million+ fundraising advantage over the entire field of gubernatorial candidates, former Speaker of the Florida House Paul Renner, has ramped up his online digs at the Trump-endorsed candidate.

Call it a Hail Mary pass or whatever, Speaker Renner is taking directly challenging Rep. Donalds with social media memes that question his integrity, judgement, and overall gubernatorial campaign.

You have to give Speaker Renner credit for have the guts, and the creativity, to challenge Donalds.

Like them or not, but the ads are a little funny.

“The CCP Endorses Byron,” reads one meme that shows Rep. Donalds shaking hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping

Another meme pokes fun at Donalds by plastering his image on a “Democrat Lite” beer can.

This is an obvious spoof on a blue Bud Light beer can. “Cheers to 365 days of ethics questions,” states the meme.

The Renner hits keep coming.

“Florida doesn’t need soft leadership,” reads another Downey  fabric softener-inspired advertisement.

Renner recently interviewed with The Floridian and spoke about his past military combat experience.
