DeSantis Awards $311 Million to 37 Florida Communities for Infrastructure Improvements

Along with the allocations, Gov. DeSantis also awarded $13.5 million in eleven small infrastructure grants.

Gov. Ron DeSantis awarded $311 million to 37 Florida communities for several infrastructure repairs while speaking in Sebring in Highlands County this week. The awards include $3 million to the Sebring airport authority to demolish and replace the existing stormwater system at Sebring Regional Airport, as well as $22 million to the City of Avon Park, also located in Highlands County, to assess, evaluate, restore, and potentially rebuild facilities within the city's sanitary sewer collection system.

The rest of the recipients include:

  • Bradford County Commission - $6 Million: roadway repairs for erosion protection
  • Citrus County - $16.4 Million: sanitary sewer system replacement.
  • City of Arcardia - $14.2 million: widen stormwater channel, $8.5 million to construct/expand a wastewater treatment plant.
  • City of Live Oak - $3.9 million: construction of a 100,000-gallon storage tank and water line loop project.
  • City of Macclenny - $7 million: fortify and modernize the Ohio Street water treatment plant.
  • City of Palatka - $4.9 million: solidify and expand the city's water treatment plant.
  • City of Wauchula - $2.9 million: wastewater system repairs and rehabilitation.
  • Columbia County - $4 milion: shelter upgrades.
  • Desoto County - $8 million: construct/install wells and a pumping system to link the wastewater treatment plant to disposal wells.
  • Hardee County - $1.9 million: remove vegetative debris from the Peace River waterway system.
  • Jacksonville Electric Authority - $20 million: redirect wastewater flows to the authority's wastewater treatment facility.
  • Okeechobee County Board of Commissioners - $2.7 millon: fortify five county-owned bridges.
  • Peace River watershed: $70 million: repair water infrastructure.
  • Sante Fe College (Alachua County) - $ 6 million
  • Suwanee County - $38 million: emergency special needs shelter.
  • Glen Saint Mary - $1.4 million: wastewater collection city hardening.
  • St. Lucie Village - $12 million: potable water supply system.
  • Union County - $1.4 million: fortify communications tower.
  • Village of Indiantown - $9.3 million: reverse osmosis water treatment plant, $7.9 million to replace 13,000 linear feet for the city's main water transmission.
  • Immokalee Water and Sewer District - $10.8 million: wastewater treatment improvements.
  • Town of Dundee - $6 million: sanitary sewer collection system improvements.

Along with the allocations, Gov. DeSantis also awarded $13.5 million in eleven small infrastructure grants.

They include the City of Frostproof ($240K), City of Okeechobee ($1.2M), City of Wauchula ($500K), Columbia County ($2M), Hardee County (250K), Hardee Industrial Development Authority (226K), Keystone Heights Airport Authority (2.9M), Okeechobee Utility Authority (1M), Putnam County (3M), Town of Zolfo Springs (300K).
