Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer (R) announced his bid to run for Florida’s 23rd Congressional District against incumbent Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D), former state Rep. George Moraitis (R), and Joe Kaufman (R).
“As Mayor, I fought to keep taxes and crime low and delivered results to provide a safe, vibrant, and more affordable place to live. We need leaders in Congress who will work to build on the success President Trump has had to secure our borders, defend our nation, reduce waste, and bring tax relief to Americans,” Singer said in a press release.
Florida’s 23rd Congressional District is quickly becoming a hot competition, with many Republicans vying to secure the district to topple the Democrats’ only hold in South Florida and give the state one more red district.
First elected to the Boca Raton city council in 2014, Singer was elected mayor in 2018 and has been re-elected twice. Singer's policies have been to lower the tax rate as mayor to ensure Boca Raton maintains the lowest property tax of any full-service city in Florida, while increasing investment in public safety and infrastructure.
Singer aims to continue the notion of reducing taxes in his congressional career, affirming his commitment to keeping taxes low, securing strong borders, and ensuring national defense, while demanding “accountability from Congress,” emphasizing how leaders should prioritize tangible results over headlines.
The term-limited mayor also commented on New York’s political climate following Zohran Mamdani’s election, suggesting he may move businesses affected by Mamdani’s potential policies from New York to Boca Raton.
“There are a lot of dissatisfied people who are going to want to leave New York,” Singer remarked.
However, he did emphasize how Boca Raton can’t accommodate all New Yorkers who wish to leave the state and that his focus is only on business growth for the city.
