Representative Mike Haridopolos (R-FL) accused Democrats of stubbornness on the government shutdown, adding that it's been a "frustrating" experience to seek cooperation.
Sharing a segment of a recent interview with Fox News, Rep. Haridopolos affirmed that "House Republicans voted to keep the government open with the exact plan Democrats demanded: A short-term CR with no strings attached. Now they're blocking it. This shutdown was never about policy; it's Democrats playing politics."
During the interview, Rep. Haridopolis affirmed that Republicans' goal is to "keep the government open." However, "the only people holding that back are, of course, Senate Democrats, and it is incredibly frustrating because of this myth that we did not negotiate with them."
As Rep. Haridopolos suggested, Democrats called for a "clean" continuing resolution (CR), meaning "no politics," as he described it, when negotiations began to keep the government open through November as the twelve appropriations bills were completed.
"We agreed to both of those," the Florida Congressman continued. "We voted it out, we kept the government open. In our mind, the Democrats are going to keep it closed."
Moreover, Haridopolos pointed out that the economy is doing well in recent months, yet Democrats "want to shut down the government. It is nonsensical."
The Florida Congressman previously knocked Democrats for shutting down the government in the midst of an economic upswing on Friday, saying, "the economy is growing at 3.8%, a number a lot of people never thought possible; We know about the record stock market right now booming, we know about the interest rates coming down and the trillions, not billions, but trillions of dollars being invested here in America."
"And what did the Democrats choose to do?" he questioned. "To shut down this economic roll."
