The Florida House Republican Campaign Committee (FHRCC) announced its endorsement of Republican candidate Jon Maples in his special election bid for House District 87.
Maples, a longtime financial planner, declared his candidacy for the seat back in May.
“I am pleased to announce the endorsement of Jon Maples in the Special Election for House District 87," Florida House Speaker-Designate and FHRCC Chairman Sam Garrison (R-Fleming Island) said. "Jon is an America First patriot and a principled conservative leader who will champion Republican values of low taxes, responsible spending, and opportunity for all. I look forward to supporting his candidacy, and our committee will be actively engaged in ensuring his success in both the primary and general elections.”
Other Florida lawmakers backing Maples' campaign include:
- Rep. Meg Weinberger (R–Palm Beach Gardens)
- Rep. John Snyder (R–Stuart)
- Rep. Anne Gerwig (R–Wellington)
- Rep. Phillip Wayne "Griff" Griffitts (R–Panama City Beach)
- Palm Beach County Commissioner Sara Baxter
- Lake Worth Beach City Commissioner Mimi May
- Former State Rep. MaryLynn Magar
HD 87 covers portions of Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter, along with coastal communities from Juno Beach to Hypoluxo in Palm Beach County.
In August, Rep. Weinberger formally endorsed Maples for the seat. Like Weinberger, known as "MAGA Meg," Maples has characterized himself as a supporter of President Donald Trump and his "America First" agenda.
“Jon Maples is a conservative, Pro-Trump, America-First patriot,” Weinberger said at the time. “He is the ally I need to help fight for President Trump’s agenda, and continue advancing pro-America, pro-Florida, and pro-Palm Beach County policies in Tallahassee. Republican voters in District 87 can count on Jon’s background, professional experience, values, and conservative convictions as he fights for our community in Tallahassee. I am proud to endorse his candidacy for State House.”
The HD 87 Special Election Primary is Jan 13, 2026, with the Special General Election on Mar 3, 2026.
