Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milan Orbis has collected and submitted enough verified petitions to qualify for the 2026 ballot in her reelection bid, her campaign announced this week. The Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections, led by Alina Garcia, confirmed the announcement through Orbis' team.

"I am deeply grateful to the residents of District Six for their trust, support, and willingness to sign their names in support of my campaign," Orbis said in a statement. "Qualifying through petitions means that our campaign is powered by the people - not political insiders or special interests. Every signature represents a conversation, a handshake, and a shared commitment to keep working together for safer neighborhoods, better infrastructure, and a stronger quality of life for every community in our district."

Orbis represents District 6 on the county commission. The area includes the cities of West Miami, Miami Springs, and Virginia Gardens, as well as parts of Hialeah, Miami, and Coral Gables, along with unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County.

According to her campaign, Orbis gathered signatures over the past several months through community events, neighborhood meetings, and grassroots outreach efforts in her reelection bid.

Orbis was appointed to the seat on May 6. She has since focused on public safety, small business support, infrastructure improvements, and government transparency in her short time at the helm.

“I am hitting the ground running,” Commissioner Orbis expressed in response to her appointment. “From day one, I will be focused on delivering results, listening to our community, and making local government more accessible, responsive, and efficient.”

Orbis, who began her County career in 2006, also served as Vice Mayor of West Miami before assuming her current role. She took over for Kevin Marino Cabrera in District 6, who was appointed U.S. ambassador to Panama by President Donald Trump back in December 2024.

The general election is set for Nov. 3, 2026.
