Rep. Angie Nixon (D-Jacksonville) criticized U.S. Rep. Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) and Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R) for introducing separate resolutions in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate to honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk, calling it "beyond disrespectful."
"That man said some of the most hateful [things] about Black People and cloaked it in scripture. "If you support it, you are a tool of white supremacy and I DID NOT STUTTER!" Nixon expressed in a social media post.
Rep. Patronis specified Oct. 14th as a “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk," saying the day would recognize the conservative activist's "contributions to civic education and public service." Sen. Scott also said the day was an opportunity to "come together, pray, and celebrate Charlie’s impact on the nation."
Oct. 14th is also Charlie Kirk's birthday. He would have turned 32.
However, Rep. Nixon didn't stop there.
She also accused Kirk of being "homophobic, antisemitic, misogynistic" and other things in a later post. Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power responded by calling on Nixon to resign over the malicious comment.
"He was a friend of Israel, how dare you Angie," Power responded. "I know your hate knows no bounds, but this would be a good time to delete your account and resign."
In justifying her posts, Nixon insinuated that Rep. Patronis and Sen. Scott were "bozos" for not doing a "thing about property insurance EXCEPT TAKE CAMPAIGN DONATIONS IN THE MILLIONS from insurance companies."
"They should be ashamed!" Nixon added.
She later claimed that she was being harassed over her comments in another post.
"Imagine harassing me on social media, putting me on watchlists, and trying to doxx me. Meanwhile, I'm over here folding clothes and eating popsicles," Nixon expressed. "This is doing NOTHING to lower the cost of property insurance and eggs y'all. Nothing at all. Your anger is misplaced."
Charlie Kirk was shot and killed by an alleged 22-year-old man at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10th. According to authorities, the suspect left ammunition behind engraved with anti-fascist messages, including “Hey, fascist! Catch!” and “Bella Ciao.”
The suspect was charged with aggravated murder on September 16th.
