Cracker Barrel and the marketing team that decided to change their traditional, long-standing logo, have cracked under immense public pressure.
Also, it didn't help the embattle restaurant chain that President Donald Trump also chimed in and that the company's stock lost $94 million in one day.
"Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before. They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity," stated President Donald Trump on Truth Social. "Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again. Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the “HOTTEST” Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was “DEAD.” Good luck! "
Wait, even Steak n' Shake and their magnificant garlic burgers took a swipe at Cracker Barrel:
"Sometimes, people want to change things just to put their own personality on things. At CB, their goal is to just delete the personality altogether. Hence, the elimination of the "old-timer" from the signage. Heritage is what got Cracker Barrel this far, and now the CEO wants to just scrape it all away. At Steak n Shake, we take pride in our history, our families, and American values. All are welcome. We will never market ourselves away from our past in a cheap effort to gain the approval of trend seekers."
After the President's post and backlash the company's base of support or patrons, they caved, announcing that they were going to ditch the new logo and keep their 'Old Timer.'
"We thank your guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel," the restaurant chain said in a statement to FOX Business. "We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain. At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family."
Former Cracker Barrel employee and current gubernatorial candidate Rep. Byron Donalds, who once worked at the restaurant, condemned the "woke rebrand."
" In college, I worked at @CrackerBarrel in Tallahassee. I even gave my life to Christ in their parking lot.Their logo was iconic and their unique restaurants were a fixture of American culture. No one asked for this woke rebrand. It’s time to Make Cracker Barrel Great Again," stated Rep. Donalds.
Lt. Governor Jay Collins, who is said to be on the verge of launching a gubernatorial campaign of his own, acknowledged Cracker Barrel's 180 degree marketing decision.
"Smart move. Americans want tradition, not corporate experiments. Cracker Barrel made the right call by keeping their classic logo—and their loyal customers," stated Collins on social media.
And of course President Trump had to weigh in. Afterall, the pressure he and his administration put on Cracker Barrel appeared to have tipped the scale just a little bit.
"Congratulations ‘Cracker Barrel’ on changing your logo back to what it was. All of your fans very much appreciate it," Trump stated. "Good luck into the future. Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!"
