U.S. Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) announced he intends to introduce federal legislation aimed at ending the House of Representatives’ subscription to The Wall Street Journal following the publication's report of a sexually explicit birthday letter allegedly sent by then-businessman Donald Trump to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in 2003.
"I’ll be introducing legislation to end the House of Representatives' subscription contract with the WSJ. Americans shouldn’t be paying for disgusting and filthy rags," Fine said. "I have also directed my entire staff to delete their taxpayer-funded WSJ accounts."
According to The Wall Street Journal's report, the letter was a part of a leather-bound birthday album assembled by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's one-time girlfriend and co-conspirator, for his 50th birthday. It included a note allegedly from Trump with an outline of a naked woman and a "Donald" signature over the woman's waist.
The letter concluded with the line "Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump denied the article's claims and said he would sue the publication and owner Rupert Murdoch over the report.
"The Wall Street Journal printed a FAKE letter, supposedly to Epstein," Trump said. "These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures. I told Rupert Murdoch it was a Scam, that he shouldn’t print this Fake Story. But he did, and now I’m going to sue his ass off, and that of his third rate newspaper. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
Rep. Fine reiterated the president's denials in a following post.
“If this was really in the so-called ‘Epstein files’ this would’ve come out in the Biden administration," Fine said. "Donald Trump did nothing wrong, and I can’t wait to see him win his lawsuit against the fake WSJ for this bullshit article.
