Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) blasted Democrats for continually delaying the confirmation of nominees appointed by President Donald Trump in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria, calling it "a historic level of obstruction by Dems."
Sen. Moody posted the clip to X (formerly Twitter), saying, "We are STILL at zero civilian unanimous consent confirmations—a historic level of obstruction by Dems. Good government is a functioning government. It's time to get to work, move these nominees forward, and give the President the tools he needs to keep putting America first."
Within the clip, the host noted that Senate Republicans are considering changing the rules to expedite the confirmation process, particularly as the August recess is set to begin and a potential government shutdown looms large in September, asking Sen. Moody how events could unfold.
"I can tell you that there are two things we are focused on here," the Florida Senator began, "We want to avoid a government shutdown. We have done so much working with this administration to pull this country up out of the muck, out of the mud that was handed to us."
Moreover, she emphasized that Republicans want to avoid a shutdown, and thus "we are going to do whatever it takes to keep the government open and working for the American people."
From there, Moody focused on Democratic obstruction of Trump's nominees, saying, "Good government is a functioning government, with people in place to deliver on the things that were promised to the American people. That is not happening specifically because of the obstruction and delay by the Democrats."
"So we have got to do whatever it takes to stay here throughout August and work, and get it done and push things through, whether that means considering rule changes," Moody concluded, adding, "Nothing needs to be off the table because we have got to start moving this government forward for the American people. That is what President Trump promised. That is what those of us in office that want to be a part of the revival of this country promised, so we are going to get it done."
