Don't go to Jacksonville if you're looking to have a fun time. That's according to a recent study by FinanceBuzz, which named Jacksonville the "most boring city" in the United States.

To determine their level of excitement or lack thereof, FinanceBuzz analyzed data on 75 of America's biggest cities and ranked them from most to least boring. The categories included culture, nightlife, and things to do.

And Jacksonville turned out to be one to catch some z's.

According to the study, Jacksonville received a paltry excitement score of 14.3/100 among all cities analyzed. The study found particularly low levels of enthusiasm for the city's culinary scene, along with nightlife and celebrations.

Specifically, the study attributed Jacksonville's poor ranking to its large area when compared to its population. Jacksonville is the largest city in America at 875 square miles, but only the 10th largest by population.

The study found Jacksonville's open population density specifically created gaps for large numbers of nightclubs and restaurants. It noted the city as having the third-most chain restaurants, the third-least nightclubs, and the fourth-lowest rate of concert venues per capita of any city in the country, making choices for a night out on the town pretty bleak.

The Jacksonville Jaguars also stunk, going 4-13 last season. The Jags have had six winning seasons since 2000.

Jacksonville was followed by Wichita, Kansas; Corpus Christi, Texas; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Memphis, Tennessee of cities you could probably just take a nap in.

Also making the boring list in Florida was Tallahassee. The city received an overall excitement of 20.5/100.

Tallahassee wasn't helped by its football team either, with Florida State finishing 2-10 last season. It was the Seminoles' worst season since 1974.

On the flipside, Atlanta, Georgia, was named the most exciting city in America. The city earned an excitement score of 72.7/100, fueled by top-five ratings for nightclubs and concert venues per capita.

But it's not all bad for Florida, as Miami ranked second on the list with an excitement score of 71.7/100. The city was particularly recognized for its high level of restaurants and things to do.

In addition, Orlando ranked fourth with an excitement score of 68.1/100, helped by Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. The city also receives a high number of international travelers, thanks to its theme parks.

St Louis, Missouri, and New York City, New York, placed in third and fifth, respectively.
