Florida Republican Congressman Randy Fine said Sunday that permanent tax cuts for Americans should be a top priority for House Republicans in the Trump agenda after he was elected to the Hill last week in an interview with Kevin Corke on the Fox Report.
"Lower tax rates incent people to work harder. It incents them to build businesses and to grow the economy," Fine said. So yes, while people will spend their own money more efficiently than the government, lower taxes will incent them to make more."
"The only way we solve all these problems is to grow our way out of them. And that's why permanent tax cuts are part of that solution," Fine added.
He also offered another top-priority item for Congressional Republicans.
"I think we gotta get the deficit under control, and we have to show that we can budget in an appropriate way," Fine said.
Randy Fine defeated Democrat Josh Weil in the Congressional District 6 special election last Tuesday by fourteen points to give Republicans an added boost on Capitol Hill. Former Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis also won his Congressional election to give the GOP another seat.
"We were always confident. We won by fourteen points. As much as my two predecessors won in their first elections," Fine said. "We carried every county in the district, and we were really thrilled with the results."
Fine also stressed the importance of his victory in giving President Donald Trump another potential vote in the House. Along with Jimmy Patronis, Republicans now hold a 220-213 seat majority.
"Well, look, I think President Trump needed reinforcements to help get his agenda passed. Speaker Johnson needs reinforcements to be helpful to make that happen, and I know that I'm excited to be there to do that," Fine said.
Moreover, Fine told Corke it was vital for Republicans to get behind Trump going forward.
"We gotta support the team captain. Republicans have to show that we know how to govern. That's how we built supermajorities in Florida, and I think that's how we'll do it in Washington as well," Fine added.
Before being elected on Tuesday, Fine was in the Florida Senate from 2024 to 2025 and the Florida House from 2016 to 2024. He mentioned the GOP's growth in both chambers over the years as a possible blueprint for Congressional success in the Trump era.
"We got there because we showed year after year, decade after decade, that we can put singles and doubles and triples on the field and we can govern," Fine said. "I'm excited to help Speaker Johnson make sure that he can get the job done."
