Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) has been in North Carolina helping to deliver aid and locate missing persons in the wake of Hurricane Helene. He briefly described his efforts in an appearance on Fox News, which suffered from poor signal quality, yet emphasized the selflessness of those involved and blasted the slowness of the federal government's response.

"We are getting the necessary needs in here that people were wanting," said Rep. Mills, adding, "and so we have delivered now about five tons worth of supplies; we have actually transported around 12,000 pounds between the two helicopters that we brought in, much of which is the only place that you can in is by rotary-wing helicopter."

Rep. Mills said he and his team have been in Asheville, Burnsville, Broad River, and other parts of the Tarheel State devastated by the storm, "either conducting search and rescue operations, to do health and welfare checks on family members who have gone missing, or even just doing distribution for Starlink systems so that we can get our missing persons report down because a lot of these people just have not heard from their family members for two and three and four days."

The Florida Congressman also described how he airlifted an 83-year-old man from Bailey to Johnsonville, showing signs of heart problems and delivering medical supplies.

"[For] a lot of people, it is not just food and water and non-perishables, but it is medications that [they] are short on. So [we are] trying to fulfill those needs until the federal government can get up and do what they need to be doing," Mills continued.

The host asked him what he saw regarding the federal response, which he criticized as "the missing piece."

"Let's go ahead and point out the obvious, which is that [the Federal Emergency Management Agency] has utilized a large majority of the personnel who should be here taking care of this replaced and repurposed, if you will, for immigration resettlement when we need to be focusing on Americans and what is going on, whether it be Maui, [East] Palestine, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, or Tennessee," slammed Mills.

Nevertheless, he concluded by saying that he was "working with great organizations like Mercury One, [the] charity from Glenn Beck, Universal Air, as well as the Sentinel Foundation and so many others. This is a group project where Americans are coming together to answer the call for Americans when the federal government fails to act."

This is not the first time Mills has gone above and beyond the call of duty, having personally rescued Americans trapped in Afghanistan, Israel, and Haiti.
