Representatives Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Wesley Hunt (R-TX) are calling out Democrats for their disdain of voter ID laws as progressives have called the measure “racist” and believe it will disproportionately and purposely affect black voters.

For instance, Rep. Donalds recently encouraged the passage of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. This bill includes provisions to ensure that only United States citizens – not illegal immigrants – can vote in U.S. elections by requiring proof of citizenship in order to vote in federal elections.

He mentioned that he hopes state governors across the country will become more strict with enforcing election security in state and local elections.

“If you are NOT a US citizen, then you SHOULD NOT be voting in US elections. This is COMMON SENSE. This is why governors are taking action. This is why House GOP passed the SAVE Act. And the Senate should pass the SAVE Act too. YOUR voting franchise matters & must be protected,” said Rep. Donalds.

In June, the New York Post reported that 49 states in the Union are actively providing voter registration forms without the necessary proof of citizenship.

“There is currently no requirement on federal voting forms to provide proof of US citizenship, though it is illegal to falsely claim one is a citizen or for a non-citizen to cast a ballot in a federal election … If an applicant attests that they are a US citizen, that is considered valid on its face and the person is registered to vote,” wrote Josh Christenson of the New York Post.

In another video, an interviewer asked citizens of different backgrounds their opinions on voter ID. The results were shocking, as Rep. Hunt pointed out.

“The most racist thing I’ve heard in the last few years comes from the left and it’s the insinuation that black people CAN’T get an ID to vote,” said Rep. Hunt. “They’ve turned their racist narrative into a crusade, whereby they wrap themselves in a cloak of righteousness to fight against voter suppression. But when this interviewer visits East Harlem and actually speaks to the Black Community… an interesting pattern emerges. Worth a watch!”

Nov. 5 is election day in America.
