Democrats Reportedly Brace for Trump win in November

After the failed assassination attempt on President Donald Trump (R) on Saturday evening, questions surrounding the assailant are being explored. However, after weeks of President Joe Biden's (D) future in the race being the top news story, the focus has shifted. According to a recent report, Democrats are bracing for President Trump to win the presidential election in November.

The mystery surrounding the shooter continues to baffle investigators. The perpetrator was a registered Republican, but he donated to ActBlue, a political action committee that was established to fundraise money for left-leaning and Democratic nonprofits and politicians. After the assassination attempt, President Trump has gone back to 'business as usual,' noting that he had thought about delaying the Republican National Convention but ultimately chose not to.

The result of the first presidential debate saw President Biden's approval rating take a significant nosedive, and President Trump's approval rating has only continued going up after the failed assassination attempt. With the former president set to not only be formally announced as the Republican nominee for president but also being set to announce his vice presidential candidate, fears are reported to be swirling among the circles of the incumbent president.

Democrats, in recent weeks, have rallied for President Biden to step down, and some are now sharing that they are bracing for a second term from President Trump. Ahead of next month's Democratic National Convention, Axios is reporting that a senior House Democrat that the party is reaching an acceptance of defeat. According to Axios, a senior House Democrat commented that "we've all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency."

In response to the report, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) called on the "senior Democrat" to retire.

"If you’re a “senior Democrat” that feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism," AOC wrote on social media. "This kind of leadership is functionally useless to the American people. Retire."
