The Biden Administration's handling of the border crisis has earned the wrath of House Republicans, yet they may be at the "depression" stage as bargaining seems to go nowhere. Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) said only a new President can halt the border crisis now in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria because "President Biden can stop the madness at the border tomorrow simply by changing policies," yet does not.
Additionally, host Maria Bartiromo relayed a clip of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) blaming Republicans for not agreeing on a bipartisan bill funding border security and sending aid to Ukraine.
Rep. Gimenez responded, "President Biden can stop the madness at the border tomorrow simply by changing policies. He is the one that undid all of the Trump-era policies that really had the border under control."
Moreover, he added that the White House and Senate do not wish to secure the border and instead, "what they want to do is, they want us to give them more money so they can process more people. That is not what we want to do."
Other Republicans, such as Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL), and Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) have expressed the same concern about duplicity in Democrats' words when talking about border security.
Ultimately, as evidenced by the recent Supreme Court ruling against Texas's efforts to control the border, Gimenez believed "it is going to be tough for us to move the needle on border security, even if we get an agreement with this President. I do not believe the President is going to come through with the agreement. I do not believe anything that this President says. I watch what he does... I believe the only way you are going to change the policy at the border is with a new President, and hopefully that will be President Trump."
And while Gimenez said Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas would likely be impeached, he doubted the Senate would convict, nor would the replacement be any better.
"It is the President of the United States. He is the one calling the shots, or at least the people around him, and they are fine with what is happening at the southern border," Gimenez concluded, reiterating that it is intentional.
Recently, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) similarly insinuated that House Republicans' attempts to get a secure border out of the White House and Senate are futile because their demands will go unfulfilled.
