Tension at the border continues to rise after Texas state law enforcement occupied Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, earlier this month. Armed officers have blocked anyone from coming into Shelby Park, and this includes federal border patrol agents. Republicans like Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) continue to warn about “massive illegal immigration,” blasting the Southern Border for being in “chaos.”
During an interview on Fox News, Rep. Gimenez discussed illegal immigration at the border, warning that “what the Biden Administration is allowing is massive illegal immigration.”
On social media, the Republican National Committee further criticized the Democratic party, accusing members of bolstering illegal immigration. Sharing a graphic that reads “187 Democrats voted against condemning the border crisis and calling on Joe Biden to secure the border,” the image was captioned with “Democrats don’t care about the border crisis.”
Sharing the interview segment on social media, Rep. Gimenez highlighted that the Southern Border has devolved into chaos, commenting that the Biden Administration has not accurately addressed the issue.
“The WIDE-OPEN border has created a massive FLOOD of MILLIONS of illegal immigrants!” he captioned the video, affirming that he is “a proud immigrant and support LEGAL immigration – not this dangerous disaster that President Biden has enabled.”
Texas state officers announced this week that they had begun to arrest migrants who were entering Shelby Park. On X, Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Chris Olivarez shared the news, writing that “troopers are arresting illegal immigrants for criminal trespass in Shelby park in Eagle Pass.” Lt. Olivarez also shared that “troopers are enforcing criminal trespass on adult men & women. The State of Texas will maintain a proactive posture in curbing illegal border crossings between the ports of entry.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) has had a tense relationship with the Biden Administration, and he is currently facing the prospect of legal action because of his efforts to curb illegal immigration.
