Rubio Suggests Biden Wants House Republicans to 'Own' Border Crisis

Is the House Republican demand for border security from the Biden Administration ultimately futile? Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) seemed to imply as such in a recent appearance on Fox News's Ingraham Angle, as any law passed by the House and Senate would likely be vetoed or ignored by the President, and there seems to be an effort in forcing Republicans to "own" the border crisis.

Additionally, Sen. Rubio said, "The asylum system is being abused, it is being broken, and it has to be completely reformed." More importantly, however, he stated that the executive branch's role in our Constitutional system is to enforce the law, which Sen. Rubio said the Biden Administration is not doing.

In fact, the Biden Administration took the state of Texas to the Supreme Court for attempting to enforce border security on its own, which the Court eventually ruled 5-4 in favor of the federal government.

"So if they are willing to go to the Supreme Court to fight against border security, what makes you think they are going to adhere to any legislative deal that is done on border security?" asked Rubio.

Host Laura Ingraham asked if a bill could be passed in a single day, even if it meant ambiguity of language. Rubio replied that a bill needs specific language, particularly when navigating an issue as complex as the border crisis.

"But this is all Biden wants. He wants to reach a bipartisan deal with Republicans in the Senate, then to have the House not pass it. And then he can go around saying, "Look, we tried. The crazy Republican MAGA people in the House would not do it. So now they own the border crisis." That is what this is all about," Rubio concluded.

Other Florida Republicans, such as Rubio's colleague Senator Rick Scott, Representatives Carlos GimenezKat Cammack, and Laurel Lee, have gone so far as to suggest the Biden Administration's handling of the border is intentional, although the ultimate goal remains unknown.
