DeSantis Banks on Loyalty, Turnout to Win Iowa

Loyalty in American politics is a rare commodity and is rarely exhibited during primary election races. Former President Donald Trump has excoriated Gov Ron DeSantis for allegedly showing disloyalty when he decided to run for President in 2024.

Gov. DeSantis insists that he has not been disloyal, but President Trump and his supporters believe that “America’s Governor” has stabbed the former president in the back.

Again, it’s about loyalty.

One thing is for sure, Trump’s base of support has been loyal to their leader, but so have DeSantis supporters, especially those who have worked with and for the popular governor from Florida.

Iowans are caucusing today and a battalion of Florida-based DeSantis supporters, lawmakers, state employees, and former state employees, have descended on Iowa in hopes of making enough of a push to make a difference.

Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez and her Chief of Staff Christina Castillo, and Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr., have also made the trip to the tundra of Iowa.

State Senators Blaise Ingoglia and Danny Burgess, alongside Reps Chip LaMarca and Michelle Salzman, have all braved the subzero temperatures in Iowa to knock on frigid doors and make some phone calls to would-be Iowa caucus attendees.

Voting begins at 7 pm CST.
