With the world’s superpowers embroiled in tense relationships, President Donald Trump (R) is making the plea that he is the only candidate that “will prevent World War 3.” However, as Republicans rally behind the president in support of his presidential candidacy, other Republicans are outright rejecting him, calling him an authoritarian.

The Republican primary candidates are days away from the Iowa Caucus. The primary pool has shrunk, but President Trump is still the clear frontrunner in the race.

In speaking to Iowa voters, President Trump said that, should he win the nomination and subsequent presidential election, “we’ll once again have peace through strength if you put us in, and when we become the 47th president of the United States, you’ll see things happening at a much different level.”

President Trump further shared that voters would “be respected again, we will be a great nation again, and I’m the only candidate who can make this promise to you. I will prevent World War 3, and we are much closer than anybody understands.”

Detractors however are warning that President Trump is a threat to the White House, citing comments he made earlier this year.

During a town hall in Iowa that was moderated by Fox News’ Sean Hannity, President Trump responded to the question of if he would be a dictator as his opponents say he’ll be. Trump remarked that he would only be a dictator on day one of his presidency to close the border and allow oil drilling.

Republicans like Utah Senator Mitt Romney (R), Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney (R), and Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R) have since criticized President Trump for his comment, but now former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R) is chiming in.

Senator Romney’s former running mate in the 2012 election was asked about the rivalry between President Trump and Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger to which he responded that “Trump’s not a conservative, he’s an authoritarian narcissist. So I think they basically called him out on that.”

Speaker Ryan further called President Trump “a populist authoritarian narcissist.”
