After the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) voted to strip embattled Chairman Christian Ziegler of his powers and cut his annual salary to $1, Vice Chairman Evan Power, who has positioned himself as the natural successor, is on the verge of receiving the endorsements of prominent Republican lawmakers to fill a potential void in the chairman's position.
The Floridian has learned that Senator Marco Rubio and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, as well as several other congressional Republicans and the two other members of the Florida Cabinet, could endorse his bid to become the next chairman of the Florida GOP in the coming days.
In a statement on “X,” Power stated that he feels “called to step into the breach” or void that could be created if Ziegler resigns or is eventually removed from his position.
“After the events of the last few weeks, many people have reached out to ask what I was planning to do if a vacancy became apparent in the Chairmanship. I care about the party first and with the election so close I feel called to step into the breach and get the party working again,” stated Power.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is the head of the Florida GOP, and Senator Rubio, and other Republican lawmakers have called on Ziegler to resign as chairman of the RPOF after being accused of sexual assault and rape by a woman that both Mr. and Mrs. Ziegler had sexual relations with in the past.
Mr. Ziegler has maintained his innocence and has told The Floridian that he will be vindicated.
