Democrat Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s campaign is gaining traction as she recently secured the endorsement of several members of Florida's congressional delegation.

Mucarsel-Powell, who is a former U.S. congresswoman,  launched her campaign in late August to contest Florida Senator Rick Scott’s US Senate seat.

"I'm not afraid to take on anyone who doesn't put Florida first. That means you, Rick Scott, that's why I'm running for the U.S. Senate," said Mucarsel-Powell.

Mucarsel-Powell lost her seat in congress in 2020 to Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) but bounced back into the political sphere with her senatorial announcement.

“I got into this race to be a voice for all Floridians, and I look forward to fighting alongside my colleagues in DC,” said Powell as she announced endorsements from Florida Democrat Representatives such as Maxwell Frost or Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

Florida Senator Rick Scott has rebuked the new endorsements his Senate challenger Murcarsel-Powell is boasting of.

In a press release, Sen. Scott’s team have qualified the endorsers as “radical Democrats” for allegedly voting alongside Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez over 90% of the time.

Scott's press statement also emphasized Representative Frost’s progressive track record to claim his endorsement of Powell taints her as a far-left Democrat. Pointing to Frost’s anti-polic rhetoric and support of trans-athlete sports participation, Scott’s team stated it’s unsurprising that Frost “endorsed Mucarsel-Powell who also voted with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time during her brief stint in Congress.”

Back in August, The Floridian Publisher Javier Manjarres met with Scott athe 2024 Republican presidential debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to discuss his upcoming reelection campaign as well as his new challenger from Rep. Mucarsel-Powell.

Scott questioned Manjarres'  depictions that Powell was a centrist.

“Centrist? That was only for the campaign. Not when [she] voted. She voted 100% with Nancy Pelosi. So, that story, that’s just for the campaign,” said Scott.

Former US Navy Commander Phil Ehr has also thrown his hat in the ring for the 2024 Senate elections.

Powell and Ehr will compete for the Democrat Nomination and the nominee will face off against Scott on November 5, 2024, as part of the 2024 United States elections.
