Less than a day after saying that he would complete former President Donald Trump’s border security wall and use the military to combat Mexican drug cartels, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the most aggressive anti-illegal immigration bill (SB1718) into law, suggesting that states should be deputized to deport illegal immigrants.

This is the responsibility of Joe Biden. The responsibility that he has defaulted on really since Day 1 of his Presidency. He is charged with ensuring the safety and security of this country. He is charged with ensuring that the laws are faithfully executed and he has refused to meet that obligation,” said Gov. DeSantis.

Gov. DeSantis continued, making the case for why states like Florida, Arizona, and Texas should be deputized by the federal government to enforce immigration policy, engage in interdictions, and deport illegal immigrants.

“And good reform federally would be deputized states to enforce immigration law. Texas should be able to send them back to Mexico or back to these other countries,” added DeSantis.

DeSantis reiterated that because he and Americans do not have faith in the federal government in respect to border security and keeping out illegal immigrants, states should be given the authority to combat illegal immigration and deport those migrants who criminally cross over.

Florida Reps.  Cory Mills, Brian Mast, Greg Steube, Byron Donalds, and Michael Waltz, along with Texas Reps. Dan Crenshaw and Vicente Gonzalez (D), have all said they supported the use of Military force against the cartels. Reps. Waltz and Crenshaw recently filed legislation to do so.
