Amid reports of federal agents raiding Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) home, Congressman Randy Fine (R-Fla.) commended the Trump administration’s effort to prosecute the Minnesota Democrat.
“In honor of Indigenous People Day, President Trump is working hard to reunite Omar with her countrymen in Somalia!” Rep. Fine wrote on X.
DHS Raids Omar's Home As Part Of Criminal Probe
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) principal criminal investigative arm, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), “executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the [DOJ].”
“This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation,” the DOJ spokesperson said.
According to two sources familiar with the matter, the investigation originates from a criminal fraud probe into Congresswoman Omar’s immigration paperwork.
Ilhan Omar's Citizenship Background
Rep. Omar was born in Somalia and was brought to the U.S. as a child.
The Somali-born congresswoman became a U.S. citizen in 2000, at the age of 17.
Long-Running Accusations of Immigration Fraud
Federal officials have long accused Congresswoman Omar of immigration fraud.
In December 2025, President Trump accused Rep. Omar of having “married her brother." President Trump also argued that she “should be thrown the hell out of the country.”
President Trump’s accusations stem from rumors that Omar’s ex-husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, is actually her brother; Rep. Omar allegedly married Elmi to help him obtain his immigration status.
Rep. Fine's Previous Calls To Deport Omar
Congressman Fine previously chimed in on the matter, calling for the Muslim congresswoman’s denaturalization and deportation.
“She should be denaturalized and deported. I mean, the woman hates America. She’s up to her eyeballs in both welfare fraud and immigration fraud. They should all go home,” Rep. Fine told the Floridian in an exclusive interview. “They never should have been brought here in the first place. Immigration to the United States should be for people who love America, share American values, want to integrate into America, and want to add value to America.”
