The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Florida dropped to $4.06 on Tuesday, as motorists get some relief from lower crude-oil prices, according to the AAA auto club. Gas prices are dropping!
The average price was down from $4.15 a gallon a week earlier and $4.36 a month earlier. A record average high, $4.38 a gallon, was recorded on March 11. "Gas prices are following the downward trend set by falling crude oil prices," AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a prepared statement. "Oil futures are falling because of global demand concerns related to COVID-19 outbreaks in China.
The potential of higher U.S. interest rates and a strengthening dollar have also put downward pressure on petroleum prices.” Jenkins also pointed to decisions by the United States and other countries to release oil from reserves. The most-expensive gas in Florida is in the West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Naples markets, while the cheapest is in the Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola and Panama City markets, according to AAA.
