CFO Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) has a challenger this 2022 election in former State Rep. Adam Hattersley (D-FL), who Patronis has branded as, "Lockdown Adam."
Hattersley announced his candidacy for the Chief Financial Officer position yesterday, implying that the incumbent CFO Patronis, is bought and paid for by special interests. In a Tweet, Hattersley promised to be a CFO that, "will represent you, the people of Florida."
Today, I am proud to announce my candidacy to be Florida's next Chief Financial Officer. Floridians deserve a CFO who will show up and fight for them. I pledge to be that CFO. I will represent you, the people of Florida, and not special interests. #WheresJimmy pic.twitter.com/EfbZKBjzfY

Patronis quickly retaliated, pointing to Hattersley's record on COVID-19 and masks, providing a very stark contrast between Hattersley's policy position and constituents in Florida.
"While CFO Jimmy Patronis has fought alongside Governor Ron DeSantis to keep Florida open and free, Democrat candidate for Florida’s CFO, Adam Hattersley, advocated for lockdowns and mandates like the mandatory masking of children and the closing of beaches and businesses." Said the Republican Party of Florida, adding that Adam Hattersley, "has opposed Governor DeSantis at every turn and supports draconian mandates. He is not a friend to our hard-working business community. If you have a family, run a business, work for a business or love that Florida is free and open, you aren't going to like Lockdown Adam."
