Now that the Capitol Police are suing former President Donald Trump (R) for the events that took place in Washington on January 6th, the riot that day has climbed to new levels of political. Several parties were listed on the lawsuit, including Roger Stone, who is now vowing to discredit the Capitol Police lawsuit filers.
At an event in Panama City, FL, Stone spoke to a crowd in which he detailed his hatred for establishment politics and the "elites." Stone then referenced the Capitol Police lawsuit and exclaimed, "This is total bullshit!"
Stone claims to never have even left the grounds of the hotel he resided in during the events of January 6th and said the lawsuit is plain, "lawfare," adding, "The idea is to tie you up in an endless lawsuit, make you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend yourself against a baseless, meritless, harassment lawsuit."
Stone then claimed that the lawyers who filed this suit, "must be held responsible," adding that they, "violated rule eleven."
The Floridian caught up with Stone after his fiery rant where he elaborated on the lawsuit.
In an interview, Stone claimed the merits of the case are, "absolutely false," denying he ever infringed on an individual's civil rights. "Nor did I call for violence, nor did I incite violence. Secondarily, the lawsuit claims I am responsible for the endangerment of police officers. Show me a quote from me that endangered them [Capitol Police]."
Stone gave a quote to the Floridian this week in response to the lawsuit revelations:
"Yesterday's lawsuit filed against me and others by leftist lawyers with political rather than legal motives is a textbook example of lawfare, the filing of baseless lawsuits as an effective form of political harassment because it requires those targeted to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend themselves in court. I know personally how debilitating and expensive those legal fees are.
The lawsuit filed against me yesterday is only one of 15 malicious civil lawsuits filed against me since I was first targeted in the politically motivated and ethically corrupt Mueller investigation. The fake news media, who continue to insist that I was a Russian asset and a WikiLeaks collaborator who trafficked in stolen emails for the benefit of the Trump campaign furthered the damage to my reputation. As the long-hidden and redacted sections of the special counsel's final report made public, only by court order, admitted that Muller had no proof of such claims.
Now the very same media outlets and leftist agitators who insisted baselessly that I was a traitor continue to insist that I was involved in, if not the mastermind of, the politically counterproductive and illegal acts at the Capitol on January 6.
The basic premise of today's frivolous civil suit is deeply flawed. I never instructed anyone to hurt people at the Capitol, let alone a police officer, on Jan 6 or at any other time, nor did I conspire to deprive anyone of their civil rights.
The lawsuit is therefore without merit and lacks the factual basis to include me among those who were served.
Let me say it again, any statement, claim, insinuation, or report alleging, or even implying, that I had any involvement in, or knowledge of, the commission of any unlawful acts by any person or group in or around the U.S. Capitol or anywhere in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, is categorically false. There is no evidence to the contrary nor any witness who can truthfully and honestly testify differently. Period.
The claim by CNN is that my apocalyptic view of the struggle America faces and my Christian-based values expressed in my remarks on January 5 somehow advocate for violence and lawlessness is both false and ridiculous. Such claims are religious bigotry by CNN.
The public record of everything I said on January 5 and the weeks leading up to it show that I know occasion do they advocate violence lawlessness or insurrection. The questioning of the abnormalities, anomalies, and irregularities in the 2020 election fall well within my first amendment free speech rights.
You may not agree with what I have to say, but the First Amendment also protects speech that does not encourage violence."
Stone argues that everything he said or did on January 5th was constitutionally protected by the right to free speech, "This is a meritless lawsuit; this is a baseless lawsuit. The lawyers who filed this perpetrated fraud upon the court."
Stone then wrapped up the interview by making a bold pledge, "Ultimately, I will work to have them [lawyers] disbarred."
