Following the Cookie Crumbs

AG Commissioner Nikki Fried is aligning her allies for her expected gubernatorial run against Gov. Ron DeSantis, and now Gov. DeSantis has begun to hire on his re-election team.

Phil Cox is on board for DeSantis, while Kevin Cate is backing Fried with a little help from friends supporting the commissioner’s political play through her Florida Consumers First political committee.

Speaking of Florida Consumers First, could Fried have commissioned a recent poll that finds she is in a virtual tie with DeSantis this early on in the 2022 election cycle?

The poll is irrelevant as The Capitolist’s Brian Burgess points out, but guess who is all too happy to take in cookie cash to help promote the poll’s findings? READ MORE

Fried Once Again Uses her Official Position and Office to Take a Political jab at DeSantis

Here is Fried's statement on the passage of the anti-riot H.B. 1 measure DeSantis is supporting:

“Today’s debate of HB 1 shows the unintended consequences of a bill for which no Floridian asked. We’re told this is a bill that we should unite behind – which makes me wonder if we’re all reading the same bill. We can unite behind protecting the rights of free speech – that’s not what this bill does. We can unite behind reforming the criminal justice system that rehabilitates instead of exploits – that’s not what this bill does. We can unite behind our local governments in protecting the health, safety, and wellbeing of their communities – that’s not what this bill does.

We can unite behind valuing human life over property – again, that’s not what this bill does, but rather the opposite. Floridians have asked for the bare minimum from their government: to help the unemployed, the sick, the hungry, and the disenfranchised. But as one lawmaker stated, this Legislature is hard of hearing. There are numerous bills that meet the people’s needs, but they languish without a hearing. The majority doesn’t have the courage to face the truth of where we are and where we need to be, with Floridians’ lives and livelihoods left to suffer the consequences.”

Nikki Fried @nikkifried-Not to be outdone, Florida Republicans are joining the Georgia GOP to ban any food or water provided to people waiting in line to vote. We have to fight voter suppression everywhere — in blue states, red states, and purple states.

Ron DeSantis @GovRonDeSantis-Today I was pleased to sign SB 72 to protect Florida’s businesses and health care providers against frivolous COVID-19 lawsuits.

Jimmy Patronis @JimmyPatronis- say all the time - we need to hold folks in Tallahassee accountable. Today, Floridians can be proud their elected officials did their job and protected businesses from frivolous lawsuits. Thank you

AG Ashley Moody @AGAshleyMoody-So far this year, FL has lost 11 law enforcement officers in the line of duty—compared to two line-of-duty deaths during the same time period in 2020. Despite these harrowing stats, Florida LEOs continue to show up to serve and protect. We must stand united and support them.
