U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) shared she has received an endorsement from the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FHSCC) in her bid for a full term in the Senate through a social media post this week.

The FHSCC, founded in 2000, includes 26 chambers covering 604,000 Hispanic-owned Businesses that contribute a $90 billion impact to Florida's economy.

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce," Moody said in a statement. "Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of standing alongside Florida’s Hispanic community, fighting for their freedom, and working to ensure their families have every opportunity to succeed and live their American Dream. Hispanic-owned businesses are an essential part of our state’s success. I am grateful for the Chamber’s support and look forward to continuing our work together.”

The support comes as Sen. Moody competes with Democrat Angie Nixon in the Senate race, including for the Hispanic vote.

A recent poll found Moody with a 16-point advantage with Hispanic voters and a seven-point lead overall. Other polls have Sen. Moody in a closer contest with Hispanic voters depending on the demographic.

Nixon is also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which the FHSCC attributed as reasoning for its support. Other DSA members include well-known U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY), who is backing Nixon in the race.

“A lot of our members didn’t learn about socialism from a textbook. They lived it," FHSCC President and CEO Joe Fuentes said.

"They came here with almost nothing and built a better life for their kids. They found the American dream in Florida, and they’re not going to stand by while someone tries to sell them the same failed ideas they ran from. We will not turn back," Fuentes continued.

The general election is Nov. 3.
